Inclusive Mediation: Learning from Young Women Leaders

The United Nations Department for Political and Peacebuilding Affairs (UNDPPA), the Crisis Management Initiative (CMI) and the Peace Research Institute Oslo (PRIO), invites you to join a virtual dialogue “Imagining Inclusive Mediation: Learning from pioneering and young women leaders” on Thursday, 15 October to mark the 20th anniversary of UNSCR 1325.

The Under-Secretary General for Political and Peacebuilding Affairs, Rosemary DiCarlo will deliver an opening remarks and commentary will be handled by Torunn Tryggestad of PRIO’s Centre on Gender, Peace and Security.

Panel of Women Leaders

The panel will comprise Hanna Tetteh, Special Representative of the UN-Secretary-General to the African Union; Miriam Coronel-Ferrer of the UN Standby Team of Senior Mediation Advisors; Emmily Kolti, Medic and signatory in the South Sudan peace process; and Hajer Sharief a Libyan human rights advocate, will be moderated by Itonde Kakoma, Director for Global Strategy at the Crisis Management Initiative.

Gender Sensitive Mediation Resources

Please, take a look at practical guidance notes on gender-sensitive mediation pertaining to Gender-sensitive Conflict Analysis; Inclusive Mediation Process Design; and Inclusive Implementation Arrangements.  The notes capture key lessons learned on inclusive mediation strategies for the benefit of peacemakers.
