The Government of Nigeria developed and adopted its first and second National Action Plans (NAPs) for implementing UNSCR 1325 on Women, Peace, and Security in 2013 and 2017. The 3rd NAP was developed and validated in 2024 and has been domesticated in 16 states through the development of State Action Plans (SAPs) and Local Action Plans (LAP).
Additionally, the NAP has reinforced the adoption of gender-responsive laws and policies, including the Gender and Equal Opportunities Bill (GEOB), the Violence Against Persons Prohibition (VAPP) Act, and gender policies of security sector institutions.
